During summertime, at the hotel I was staying at, just outside Dubrovnik, Croatia, I had a beautiful view of the sea. From my balcony, I could hear the waves as loud as if I were on the beach.
In the morning, I woke up in a different mood; the waves had calmed down, although I could still hear them splashing on the sand. As if I was waking up from a beautiful dream where everything had fallen into place.
They say that our breathing has the same rhythm as the rolling of the wave; perhaps that is why it can take all the weight off us, as if we were taking deep breaths.
With a high mood, back in my studio, I wanted to capture this tranquility on canvas, but without many details, as if it were from a dream. I wanted a sea lost in the fog of thoughts, but which appears to embrace us, to give us its love.
It is the painting that brings peace, love, and, like a mother, takes away all our worries.
