“I’m Ready to Fly” was inspired by a moment every parent treasures. My younger son, Alexander, was nearly five when I was preparing him for school, giving him instructions as mothers do. He looked at me with such confidence and said, in almost these exact words, “Mommy, I am ready to fly.”
His words stayed with me, resonating deeply.
A few years later, I felt compelled to capture that moment on canvas, naming the painting after his name, ‘Alexander’. Eventually, I changed the title to “I’m Ready to Fly” to reflect the universal experience of children finding their independence and parents learning to let go.
This painting holds that memory, the bittersweet moment when our little ones spread their wings, ready to take on the world with a confidence that inspires us in return.
